welcome.
Marie Karcher is a New York City based actress. She graduated from Marymount Manhattan College where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Performance. Since then, she has pursued work in theatre and film. She starred in the Web Series ac’tiv.ist (Riverwolf Productions) which won Best Web Series in the 2016 Big Mini Media Film Festival. She can also be seen in the 2018 multiple award-winning feature film There's Always One (GMML Productions) as the pizza-dough rolling girl-next-door, Myra. In August 2019, Marie returned to Riverwolf Productions to co-direct and act as the director of photography in the short film Damage Control, a short film about political campaigns and marriage.
Currently, Marie has the privilege of training and devising theatre with two ensemble-based theatre companies. Since the fall of 2016, Marie has worked closely with Letter of Marque Theater Company as one of their Lieutenants. LoM’s weekly training labs focus on devising new work through improvisation, Viewpoints, soundpainting (live composition), movement, and working with both new and classical texts. Most recently, she appeared in the Live Composition Festival in 2022 with Letter of Marque. Similarly, since summer 2017, Blessed Unrest Theatre Company has provided Marie with ongoing training with some of the most creative professionals in New York City theatre today. Creating their own work for nearly two decades, Blessed Unrest equips its training ensemble with a groundwork in Viewpoints, modern dance, methods of their own creation, and more. Both companies independently strive to create a common language from which their ensembles create work.
Beyond her acting experience, Marie has always been acutely interested in exploring the human experience through art. While this primarily takes the form of storytelling on stage or screen, she also submerges herself in poetry, painting, creative writing, photography, and as a figure drawing model.
